Here's a checklist of things you should do
in the event of a disaster :
- Contact your insurance company—this will
initiate your claim so they can assign an adjuster
- Contact SOS Restoration. We will have an estimator meet with you to assess your property damages. We will work closely with you and your insurance company to repair the structure, perform an inventory pack-out and have your property restored
- Take an inventory or your personal property
- Secure any valuables, medications,
important documents, checkbooks, money…
- Remain on the property until it has been
properly secured, boarded-up or fenced
- Notify your post office, utility companies,
and creditors
Valuable Documents and Records Recovery:
As best you can, try to secure all your important
documents. In the event that these are lost,
contact the following people/institutions:
- Your insurance agent—for any insurance policies
or documents
- The MVD—to obtain a new drivers license and
copies of your automobile registration/title
- The Social Security office—for your lost
Social Security and Medicare cards
- The records department of your city/county
of residence—to obtain copies of your titles
and deeds
- Your doctor(s)—for your medical records
- Your lawyer—for copies of your will
- Your bank (ASAP)—for the recovery of any
bank records
